Weathering The Future Documentary

The Climate + Energy Project invites you to a FREE screening of NOVA’s “Weathering the Future”. At the screening, enjoy FREE FOOD, visit sponsor booths, and submit a public comment around Evergy’s proposed rate hikes. The film will be followed with a discussion panel.

“Weathering the Future” examines the dramatic ways in which our weather is changing. From longer, hotter heat waves, to more intense rainstorms, to mega-fires and multi-year droughts, the U.S. is experiencing the full range of impacts from a changing global climate. At the same time, many on the front lines are fighting back—innovating solutions, marshaling ancient wisdom, and developing visionary ideas. The lessons they’re learning today can help all of us adapt in the years ahead, as the planet gets warmer and our weather gets more extreme.

This screening immediately follows Sierra Club Kansas Chapter’s Climate Rally at 5 PM in front of Lawrence City Hall.

“The Lawrence City Commission voted to use clean energy only but Evergy broke its 2021 promise to stop burning coal in Lawrence.

Clean energy is more affordable but Evergy charged Lawrence customers higher bills, and wants a rate hike despite record profits.

Join us to tell the City of Lawrence to intervene in utility planning and demand that Evergy stop burning coal this year, as promised, in the Lawrence Power plant.”

We encourage folks to attend the rally before heading down the street for the documentary screening!
