DESCRIPTION:The Climate + Energy Project’s Annual Fundraiser and Awards Celebration\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur “Visions of a Resilient Kansas: Energy Justice for All” annual fundraiser and awards celebration will be held Virtually on October 19\, 2021\, starting at 6:00 pm. \n\n\n\nWe hope you can participate in any of the ways listed below. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Celebration! Tickets Now Available\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeaturing Keynote Speaker\, Shalanda Baker\n\n\n\n\nShalanda H. Baker is the Secretarial Advisor on Equity and the Deputy Director for Energy Justice in the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to her appointment\, she was a Professor of Law\, Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University. She has spent over a decade conducting research on the equity dimensions of the global transition away from fossil fuel energy to cleaner energy resources.  \n\n\n\nShe is the author of over a dozen articles\, book chapters\, and essays on renewable energy law\, energy justice\, energy policy\, and renewable energy development.  \n\n\n\nIn 2016\, she received a Fulbright-Garcia-Robles research fellowship to study climate change\, energy policy\, and indigenous rights in Mexico. She is the Co-Founder and former Co-Director of the Initiative for Energy Justice\, an organization committed to providing technical law and policy support to communities on the frontlines of climate change. \n\n\n\n\nNote: In order to ensure that everyone can hear Shalanda Baker’s message\, we have adopted a Pay As You Can sliding scale for tickets this year.
