Our “Visions of a Resilient Kansas: Energy Justice for All” annual fundraiser and awards celebration will be held Virtually on October 19, 2021, starting at 6:00 pm.

Featuring Keynote Speaker, Shalanda Baker
Shalanda H. Baker is the Secretarial Advisor on Equity and the Deputy Director for Energy Justice in the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to her appointment, she was a Professor of Law, Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University. She has spent over a decade conducting research on the equity dimensions of the global transition away from fossil fuel energy to cleaner energy resources.
She is the author of over a dozen articles, book chapters, and essays on renewable energy law, energy justice, energy policy, and renewable energy development.
In 2016, she received a Fulbright-Garcia-Robles research fellowship to study climate change, energy policy, and indigenous rights in Mexico. She is the Co-Founder and former Co-Director of the Initiative for Energy Justice, an organization committed to providing technical law and policy support to communities on the frontlines of climate change.
Note: In order to ensure that everyone can hear Shalanda Baker’s message, we have adopted a Pay As You Can sliding scale for tickets this year. While this is a fundraising event, we don’t want cost to be a barrier for any community organizers or activists to be able to attend.

The pandemic highlighted how energy insecurity exacerbates existing inequalities. Shalanda Baker’s work inspires advocates to integrate energy justice frameworks. Business sponsorships include two tickets, and receive recognition (a one minute commercial) at the event and in our online promotions. A nonprofit partner sponsorship includes 2 event tickets, mention in program, small ad space, and your logo on all communication & promotions.
Help make our event extra spectacular by donating to the Silent Auction. Physical items are great, but we also welcome services, experiences, and classes. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds go to the CEP Action Fund.
