We are pleased to announce that the Climate + Energy Project received funding for our Kansas Environmental Leadership programming through the Kansas Leadership Center’s 2022 Leadership Transformation Grant!
The Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) has selected 37 new organizations and 50 returning organizations across Kansas as 2022 Leadership Transformation Grant (LTG) partners, making this the largest group of LTG partners in the history of the program. The grants will help the partner organizations create a culture that embraces change, tackles problems, and seizes opportunities to make lasting progress for years to come.
The Climate + Energy Project empowers supporters and organizational partners with environmental leadership development through our Kansas Environmental Leadership program. Since 2016, CEP has sent staff members, organizational partners, and other environmental supporters to participate in over 200 leadership training experiences via KLC’s Leadership Transformation Grants and support from the Environmental Protection Agency. We believe that by building collective leadership skills, we can make progress on environmental issues that will contribute to a healthier and more resilient Kansas.
In 2022, CEP will give another 50 environmental partners the opportunity to attend trainings at the Kansas Leadership Center and will soon begin conducting an active search for those candidates.
“The Leadership Transformation Grants allow participation in the KLC Path, a three-step sequence which teaches that leadership is an activity—not a position—and that anyone within an organization can exercise leadership effectively. These programs offer a framework by which organizations can share a common language and skills to approach their challenges and empower employees to mobilize others to create progress in their organization and communities,” said Katy Weidner, KLC program manager.
KLC’s own research center indicates that leadership development at all levels of an organization leads to a more engaged workforce in the non-profit sector, with employees more committed, more hopeful for the future, and more satisfied with their job.
The grants are divided among five sectors: business, education, faith, government, and non-profit. In the past seven years of awarding these grants, KLC has awarded 334 grants, trained over 9,000 people, and partnered with over 240 Kansas organizations and communities.
