Happy Election Day!
November 3, 2020

The Kansas Secretary of State reported that 40% of all registered Kansas voters have voted. If you haven’t already, exercise your right to vote today!

Polling locations and their hours, and ballot drop boxes can be found at ksballot.org. If you haven’t mailed your advance ballot, drop it off in-person to make sure it’s counted on time. If you need help casting your ballot or have questions, email us at takeaction@climateandenergy.org.

Want to do more than vote? Check out this guide to find what you can do on this Election Day!

This election season may take longer than previous elections. We’re experiencing record numbers of advance ballots (which is great!) and election officials are working with reduced staff. In addition, some states can’t start counting advance ballots until after the polls close on election night. Therefore, it may take longer than it has in the past to count every vote and verify a clear winner, it could take days, weeks, or longer. In order to protect democracy we need to support counting every vote. We’re encouraging folks to prepare themselves for a possibly longer than usual process and encourage family and friends to fully support counting every vote. Use #counteveryvote on social media.

TAKE ACTION! SAY NO TO EVERGY’S DIRTY RATE HIKES

Kansas’ largest utility monopoly, Evergy, is proposing a rate increase for nearly 1 million Kansas customers. The proposed rate increase would be one of the largest in the company’s history, hiking Kansas Central customers’ bills by more than $170 per year. Kansas City area Metro customers will see an additional $42 per year.
