Legislators Headline Panel Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote
Join female Kansas elected officials for a live panel
Wednesday, August 26, 2020 – 12 pm – 1:30 pm CT
Online Live Panel
Giving voice to their experiences as elected officials, Republican and Democratic female legislators from the Kansas House and Senate will join Kris Rogers, friend of the Climate + Energy Project (CEP) and Kansas League of Women voters and Dorothy Barnett, executive director of CEP in a moderated discussion about elected leadership experiences.
The event is part of a celebration for the victory women won 100 years ago when the United States acted to guarantee the right for women to vote by ratifying the 19th Amendment. The panel is being sponsored by the Climate + Energy Project and the League of Kansas Voters.
The bipartisan panel will take place online on Women’s Equality Day, Wednesday, Aug. 26th at 12 pm CT, and will consist of Senator Carolyn McGinn, Senator Dinah Sykes, and others that have been invited.
“We recognize that while women have made great strides in earning leadership roles, barriers still exist,” said Barnett. “Our goal is to foster an honest dialogue about the role of women in elected office and how women can be part of advancing solutions to challenging problems. In particular, we believe there’s a role for females to play in addressing climate change and bringing people together to adopt appropriate policies. We want to explore those opportunities in this dialogue.”
Registration is open to join us live on Zoom for the panel discussion. We will also live stream the panel on the Climate + Energy Project’s Facebook page.
