3 months ago | Oct 03, 2018
Do you have questions about the recent KCC ruling impacting solar? This Friday, October 5th at 2:30pm, join a CEP LIVE on Facebook discussion with the Executive Director of Climate+Energy Project, Dorothy Barnett.

Learn about how this ruling will impact solar users and what we can do. If you have any questions, please submit them to Leilani Grey at grey@climateandenergy.org. We will answer questions during the CEP LIVE on Facebook event.

Last week, the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) decided to allow Westar Energy and Kansas City Power & Light the ability to lower utility bills for everyone in their service area except for solar users.  The KCC ruling stated. "The Commission finds that, in Westar’s case, under the two-part rate design for (solar) customers currently in place, the (solar) customers are receiving a preferential rate,” the commission said in its order approving the settlement.  According to the Wichita Eagle, Solar users could be charged $27 to $36 a month, for generating their own electricity.
